Map Games

“Map Games: Dynamics of Change” is a new visual art project that reflects on rapid changes dramatically influencing the appearance and dynamics of Beijing city and fuelling its creative energy. The project was originated in 2005 by Varvara Shavrova, visual artist and curator based in Beijing. ‘Map Games’ is a curatorial and creative collaboration between Varvara Shavrova, a Beijing-based curator Feng Boyi, and offiCinaltd founders and long-term Beijing residents, Monica Piccioni and Rosario Scarpato. The project invited participation from Chinese and international artists and architects, and resulted in a group exhibition in Today Art Museum, Beijing in 2008, the Birmingham Museum in England in 2008-2009, and CAOS Ceentre for Contemporary Art in Terni, Italy, in 2009. All the artworks have been either specially commissioned or individually selected according to the project brief.
